Current Client Quilts
Thought you would like to see some of the wonderful quilt tops that I get to work on. The design and fabric choices, workmanship and stories behind making the tops absolutely inspire me. Sometimes, my quilting is prominent and adds to the overall design ; sometimes it stays in the background allowing the piecing to shine on its own. The longarm quilting that I do is totally hand driven. I do not have a computerized system. Thank you for trusting me with your hard work and wonderful gifts-to-be.

This medallion quilt is for a person I knew from Roanoke. She brought up the top when visiting family in Crozet. It is a king size quilt, taking up most of my frame! Her piecing is just perfect - all the points very sharp. This edge to edge panto gives it soooo much texture. It’s called “Amethyst” . We originally were going to use a variegated thread, and than a light green but since the design is so complex, we chose to use a light grey on top and bottom. The following pics show close ups and the back. The last two pics show the shams that were quilted.

This is a quilt that I quilted for a ministry, the Sew and Sews :) Our ministry gets many donated items. The finished blocks were donated. Members put it together, I quilted, and now it can go to someone who may need a quilt to let them know that they are loved.

I love a scrappy quilt and this is a beauty! My customer said she made it long ago and just wanted it done. I’m so glad she will now have this cozy throw to wrap up in during the winter. So many older fabrics. I found some that I used years ago. A very traditional free motion “open petals” all over design just makes it perfect.

See what can be done with printed fabric! My customer bought this from the internet. The backing, batting and top were basted but I was able to load it onto my longarm. It definitely makes a Queen size quilt. Since it looks like a traditional design, I choose to just work rows of scallops with a ruler.

The next four pictures are a sampling of 5 memory quilts that my wonderful neighbor is making for her adult children from her husband’s shirts. It has not been long since the passing a a good man and husband. We quickly became friends and we miss Dave very much. Joanne has a strong faith and is a good friend. She did a wonderful job, using the backs and different fabrics to customize each quilt for each child and memories of their father. We used different pantographs for each and Joanne then bound each one. She even used decorative stitching for the bindings. Wonderful life-long memory quilts.

This quilt is twin sized and full of color. All the stars, made with the same floral fabric, are surrounded with saturated bright colors. My customer choose the Pansy pantograph. That design is one of the favorites, especially for a girl’s quilt. I used monofilament on the top so as not to have big contrasts in some blocks with the thread.

Look at these two quilts. They are remarkable!!
My customer hand embroidered each block and then put them in a traditional star quilt design. The black/cream/yellowish tone quilt is bed sized. The last two pictures are of a smaller quilt - large wall hanging. I am sorry I forgot to get better pictures of that quilt. It is red & cream with pinwheels making up the four borders around the embroidered blocks.. Look a that large center block. I did not get a good picture but it is named “Sheltering Tree” with many birds, leaves, flowers. Just amazing. The backings are wonderful prints also. She did not mind having an all over design. We choose a “modern” feather panto design and she was quite satisfied with the results :)

A favorite quilt! This is for a granddaughter who loves the beach - can you tell!! :) My customer used a Batik jelly roll with a tropical beach theme. The quilt pattern is Wonky Log Cabin - so fun. I found this seashell pantograph on Urban Elementz and it is perfect. See the big shells on the white and the back is a perfect “beach” to hunt for seashells, especially after a storm!

A new quilter made this quilt for a graduation gift. I used rulers and free motion in the blocks. Nice colors for a masculine quilt.

This will be a bed quilt for a small granddaughter. Pretty colors and we decided on the Panto “Pansies” to match the floral print. I made a pillowcase from some of the left over fabric :)

Look at this wonderful quilt! My customer made it for her daughter (and her wedding). The wedding has a middle ages theme having period dresses and decor. The printed fabric in the top has “Jacobian” looking flowers and so we choose this flower pantograph for the all over quilting. It blends in so very nicely with the design and the blue thread shows the design in the lighter fabrics. It is beautiful.

This is a small lap quilt. I belong to a sewing ministry with so many talented people. One of the group members moved to Florida last year and gave us unfinished projects. She did the center curved pieced panel which is just so amazing. I added borders and did a number of free-motion designs in the many center pieces and easy free motion/rulers in the borders. I finished this in a hurry but it turned out pretty good. This quilt will be donated. I hope the person who receives this will have fun using it when sitting in their chair:)

Isn’t this quilt happy and spring-like! The quilter is so good in her piecing so it was a delight to quilt. I didn’t get pictures of the quilting design but it is called “Pansies”, a sweet flower with vining leaves. This quilt is to be a gift to a young mother. :)

First completed work for 2024. This wallanging belongs to my Williamsburg friend who does wonderful hand applique. This time, my husband and I delivered it personally. Colonial Williamsburg is one of our favorite places.
